About Gilbert Stoughton, of Stoke
He was 5th Lord of Stoughton (Surrey), and Lord of Chalgrove (Oxford). He lived in the time of Kings Henry VII and VIII. Educated for the bar, he was Escheator of Surrey and Sussex in 1492 and 1493, and a Commissioner for the collection of the subsidy in 1513. His connections with Chalgrove (Oxford) and Beaconsfiled (Buckingham) might be a clue to further information.
