About Gräfin Amalie von Leiningen
An oil painting of her at the age of 17 (probably at the time of her wedding) has survived in Heidelberg. See "Städtische Gallerie auf dem Heidelberger Schlosse (Friedrichsbau), No.436 neuer, No.30 alter Katalog"
Their wedding, on 25 Nov 1551, was a huge celebration in the Castle of Heidelberg. Both the bride and bridegroom were close to the Kurfürst Friedrich II. Three events were combined in a lavish five day festivity: the wedding of these two, the wedding of Graf Philipps von Hanau and the 70th birthday of Kurfürst Friedrich II.
She was buried next to her husband in the Jacobskirche, Höningen - the gravestone contains the shields of Leiningen, Zweibrücken, Westerburg and Schaumburg.
