Harry G. Nelson, 80, of Lansford, North Dakota, entered into eternal life, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 15, 2010, at Trinity Hospital in Minot, North Dakota. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot, North Dakota.

Harry was born May 31, 1929, on the family farm, west of Glenburn, North Dakota.

He attended country school in that area and later attended school in Glenburn, North Dakota through the 10th grade. He graduated from Minot High School in 1947. He lived and farmed his entire life in the Lansford, North Dakota and Glenburn, North Dakota areas on the farm homesteaded by his great-grandparents.

On October 2, 1949, he was united in marriage to Pearl Adams.

Harry was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenburn, North Dakota and served the community in various ways. He served on the Muskego Township board for many years and served on the Renville County Water Resource Board for 30 years. While his children were young, he was a leader for the 4-H Horsemanship Club. Harry was also active in the community historical functions, including the Lansford Threshing Show.

Harry was a former sales person for Smith Roles. He was the owner of Nelson Brothers and was a distributor for Agri-Cover and Access of Jamestown, North Dakota, until the time of his death.

Harry was an avid sportsman, who enjoyed the times spent with his family and friends.

Harry is survived by those who shared in his life, his loving wife of over 60 years, Pearl, Lansford, North Dakota; children, Bonnie (Jim) Ripplinger, Minot, North Dakota; Terry (Nataliya) Nelson, Lansford, North Dakota; Darlene (Emil) Schoenfish, Devils Lake, North Dakota; and Gail (Blain) Christianson, Fargo, North Dakota.

And grandchildren, Heidi (Rick) Davis, Holly (Brian) Peterson, Preston Ripplinger, Kyle Nelson, Kristin (Corey) Carstens, Kraig Nelson, Olga (David) Amiel, Jennifer (Mohamed) Keita, Emily (Mark) Twedt, Evan (Dana) Schoenfish, Michael Christianson and Kaitlin Christianson; great-grandchildren, Hannah Twedt, Mariam Kieta, William Peterson and Luke Carstens.

He is also survived by his sister, Viola Baker, Minot, North Dakota; brother, Duane (Margaret) Nelson, Garrison, North Dakota; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and many wonderful friends.

Harry was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law, Gail Nelson and granddaughter, Nicole Christianson.
