The first mystery concerns which d'Oliveira did Helena Elizabeth de Smidt (born Stadler) marry? Well, that's not too difficult.
In the Archives it shows that in 1847 she was involved in a case against her by Alida van Reenen and it was noted that she is "currently married to Rogier Johannes de Oliveira". So, she was married to Rogier, eldest son of the 1st d'Oliveira, by 1847 (KAB CSC 2/6/1/65) Both had lost their spouses a few years earlier.
The marriage did not last long, though, for in 1850 Rogier asked the court to order her to "return to husband" and when she did not, he asked for a "dissolution of the bonds of marriage" - see KAB CSC 2/1/1/64 and 65.
