About Isabel Boykin
Biography
From https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/UNKNOWN-23696
Isabel was the given name of wife of Jarvis Boykin of New Haven. Her maiden name is unknown.
She was a religious woman, and had seats in the meeting house. In 1646, Sister Boykin was assigned a middle seat (although the last row) in the women's section. By 1655/6, Goodwife Boykin, was having difficulty hearing and requested to sit in the alley. Sister Boykin, in 1661/2, was once again permitted to sit in the alley to aid hearing the service.[1]
When Isabel died in 1673, a "writing" was shown in court as her will. It was not signed or witnessed, so the court didn't accept it as a will, but they did allow that it could be used as a directory in distributing the estate. In it she made bequests to son Nathaniel, daughter Sarah, and to her daughter Denison's children. 12 Feb 1673, (1673/4?) at court, the heirs accepted distribution according to the writing. An inventory, valued at £216:14:02, was taken 11 Nov 1673[2]
