Israel was married twice though his second marriage record describes him as being "single" (a misunderstanding by the officiating rabbi or a fib from the groom?).

It is not clear what happened to his first wife. She doesn't appear on Mikulov death indexes but may have died in 1962 as a result of complications caused by childbirth.
