About Jacob Vincent Kurta
Jakov Vincenzo Kurtic: Došao u NZ 1896. Jacob Vincent Kurta Naturalised in 1904. Arrived in Auckland 26 November 1896 with friends Ivan Borich and Ante Sisarich. The first of the Podorani to go gumdigging. He was the second of his people to open a restaurant in NZ. (p86 & 87 From Distant Villages SA Jelicich) Louis Kinkella was 1882. He was the key to expansion of restaurants and fish shops southwards. Many came to New Plymouth to learn the ropes and he sometimes helped with finance when they started their own business.
