About Janet Munro
The Times, December 7, 1972>
MISS JANET MUNRO
Miss Janet Munro, the film and television actress, has died at the age of 37.
She was born in Scotland and had a brief career in the theatre before entering films in 1957 in "The Trollenberg Terror". The late Walt Disney recognised the gamin-like qualities of the young Janet Munro and placed her under contract in 1958 and it was for his organization that she made "Darby O'Gill and the Little People", "Third Man on the Mountains", and "Swiss Family Robinson". Her subsequent films included two strong dramas, "Life for Ruth" and "Bitter Harvest". It was in the latter film as an unspoiled girl from the Welsh Valleys who found heartbreak and eventual tragic death among the bright lights of London, that gave what many people consider to be her best performance. She had appeared in many television plays, among them "Afternoon of a Nymph" and "Girl in an Bird Cage".
Her first marriage was to the actor Tony Wright and her second was to the film actor Ian Hendry.
