About Jens Bloch

Bloch hadde forskjellige prestestillinger i Danmark, og var også lidenskapelig opptatt av antikke studier. Han skrev flere verk om greske klassikere, blant annet oversatte han Xenofons Sokratiske Mærkverdigheter i 1792. I 1795 fikk han den teologiske doktorgrad for avhandlingen de anthropologia Mosaica.

Han etterfulgte Peder Hansen som biskop i Christiansands stift i 1804, men ble allerede året etter forflyttet til bispestolen i Viborg.
