Name at Birth: Joane Unknown b.1599 in Bocking, Essex, England. Christening: 25 Mar 1599 - England. Death: 26 NOV 1663 - Sandwich, Barnstable, Massachusetts, United States Gender: Female. Married to William Swyft by 1620 in England.

Fined along with Robert Harper and his wife, Joseph Allen, John Newland and his wife, William Allen, William Gifford, Matthew Allen, the wife of Henry Dillingham, William Newland and his wife, John Soule, Rodolphus Elmes, Peter Gaunt, Dorothy Butler, Obadiah Butler, John Jenkins, Richard Kerby Sr., Richard Kerby Jr., John Smith of Plymouth and his wife Deborah, Lydia Hickes of Plymouth, and Henry Howland for "being att Quakers meetings." Fined 4 pounds each. Oct 1660.

Joan was the widow of Roger Dumbleby when she married William Swift in 1626. Joan's birth name is still unknown.

• ***************************************************************** When Ralph Jr. Ralph 'Stonemason' Allen, Jr, of Sandwich died, all of his land was passed down to his son Jedediah Allen Jedediah Allen. The will of Joan Swift Joan Swift , grandmother of Jedediah and Experience, shows that Ralph's wife Esther Bull only had two surviving children in 1663:

Will of Joan Swift dated 12: 8mo: 1662, inventoried 25: 10mo: 1663, includes: to grandchild Experience Allen Experience Allen chest of drawers & bible; to my 2 grandchildren Hannah Swift Hannah Tobey & Experience Allen all linen and pewter; to Jedediah Allen & Experience Allen 1/3 of estate House & garden; and debt from Francis Allen [Plymouth Colony Wills, FHL film 0567794, v. 2, part 2, p. 16.

The only other mention of Experience is the family Bible of Jedediah [NEHGR, v. 25, p. 146]. His Bible lists the deaths of his father and mother, and Experience, but the months and years of their deaths are lost. Jedediah's first child was Experience Experience Field, b. 30 Aug 1669, which suggests that Experience daughter of Ralph had died by 1669. In summary, all of the records suggest that Ralph Jr. (stonemason) did not have a earlier wife.
