Not the child of Ens. William Simmons, Jr. ??
The son John Simmons I became the Burgess for Surry (serving with William Gray Jr) and began the negotiations with the Nottoway Indians concerning their land. He died in Surry Co leaving a will.
SIMMONS, John: Leg.- To my wife, Rebekah, negroes, household goods, horses etc. To son William all the land where I now live, an all the Land in Brunswick County, and cattle and stock on that land, John Simmons, all my Land in Isle of Wight County ...All the rest of my estate to be equally divided between my sons, William and John and daughter Mary Simmons. Friend Mr Robert Gray. Wife Rebekah and son, Wm. Exers. Wit. Benj. Simmons, John Davis, Jos. Andrews. Made 18 Oct 1737. Prob. 19 April 1738 Wit Benjamin Simmons, John Davis, Joseph Andrus.
