About John A Lowrie
John A. Lowrie, a member of the hardware firm of Lowrie and Grissinger, of Seville, is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, born December 20, 1857. His parents were David and Agnes Smith Lowrie, both natives of Scotland. Our subject received his education at Shelby, Wellington and Oberlin, Ohio. for seven years Mr. Lowrie was member of the county board of school examiners and performed the duties of that office with marked ability and to the satisfaction of the people. He is a staunch republican and an active member of the party. July 23, 1897, he received the appointment of postmaster of Seville and he has just assumed the duties of that office. His wife, before her marriage, was Miss Aletta McConnell, born February 7, 1860, and educated at Oberlin, Ohio. The fruits of this marriage are two boys and one girl.
