About Josef Taussig

"I probably have some interesting information about Samuel Taussig. Josef and Samuel were related in two ways. Not only they were brothers-in-law due to Theresa but they were also cousins. The oldest ancestor of the Taussigs lived in the village of Přestavlky near Chrudim. He was Samuel Taussig who married Katrina Schutzjede in 1786. They had four sons - Lazar (born 1788) + Bernard (born 1789) + Moisese (born 1790) + Salomon/Šalameun (born 1799). Samuel Taussig (born 1820) was the son of Bernard and Josef Taussig (born 1829) was the son of Salomon. So they were cousins. The information got for us a historian Mrs Langová from the State regional archives in Chrudim............

Josef Taussig was born in Krouna in the house number 212. The house still exits and nearby the house there was a manufacturing house which is still called by local people "Tausikárna". When he moved to Hlinsko he founded the oldest textile factory. Unfortunately, the production was probably on manual looms. He bought a new factory in the part called "Zámostí". Its building stands but is a part of a big retail company COOP Jednota. It served to the same function during the socialistic era."
