Lorraine Lee Jett, 91, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Mary Washington Hospital. A Stafford County native, Mr. Jett was born on Feb. 25, 1924, and raised in the White Oak area. He volunteered for service with the U.S. Navy during World War II and served with Carrier Support Groups on various bases along the West Coast. After returning from the War, he and his brother, Frank owned Jett Brothers Builders and built many quality homes in the Fredericksburg area until their retirement in 1988. He was a longtime member of Goshen Baptist Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, treasurer, and trustee. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Jett loved to fish, relic hunt and spend summer vacations with his family in Nags Head, N.C. He is predeceased by his parents, William Goolrick Jett and Clara Virginia Sullivan Jett; his brothers, Isaac and Joseph; his sisters, Nancy Reeve and Maude Alsop; and his daughter, April Wills. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Inez Josephine Mason Jett; and their children, Barbara Parkes and her husband, Ed of Mooresville, N.C., Barry Jett and his wife, Nancy of Beaverdam, Harrison Jett of Spotsylvania County, Allison Jacques and her husband, Brian of Dayton, Tenn., and Holland Cloe and her husband, Weedon of Mechanicsville; 16 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Frank H. Jett Sr. of Fredericksburg. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Goshen Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the interment at a reception in the church fellowship hall.
