Loe de Jong 1914 2005

Louis de Jong was een Nederlands historicus en journalist. Hij was directeur van het Rijksinstituut voor Oorlogsdocumentatie vanaf 1 oktober 1945 tot zijn pensionering op 1 mei 1979.

Loe de Jong was Jewish by birth. He lost the greater part of his family, including his parents and his twin brother, during the Second World War.

He managed to escape the Holocaust by fleeing to England together with his wife when the Germans invaded the Netherlands
