Lovey Bass

Lovey BASS Named in the will of her father, dated January 18, 1732, proved February Court, Northampton County, North Carolina, 1732. *Daughter LOVEY BASS-100 acres on north side of Erah [Urahaw] Swamp joining NEWSOME. (This is Old Cheraw land). Her name could read as either Lovey or Loucy named in the will of George T. Anderson, along with her son Nathan [Nathaniel]. George Anderson also left his wife Mary and their three children one shilling each. Will proved May 1770, named Nathan Bass, Lid Anderson (dau of Lishe Anderson), Lovey Bass, William Petteford (son of Lorrane Petteford), George Petteford, Margaret Bass, his wife Mary (1 shilling), their three children Jerry (Jeremiah?), Kate Harris and Betty Smith (1 shilling each).

	  Children of Lovey BASS are:

• 2 i. Nathaniel BASS was born 1752 in Granville Co, NC. He married Sarah BASS 2 FEB 1779 in Granville Co, NC.
• 3 ii. Margaret BASS was born ABT 1756 in Granville Co, NC.
• 4 iii. Wright BASS was born ABT 1758 in Granville Co, NC, and died AFT 1820 in Wilkes Co, NC. He married Tabitha SNELLING 12 NOV 1781 in Granville Co, NC.
• 5 iv. Dicey BASS was born ABT 1766.

Lovewell Bass and her heirs sold her land on Urahaw Swamp in 1761 to her nephew Jethro Bass.

A scetch of the contents of GEORGE ANDERSONs Will.

I give & bequeth the plantation whereon I now live to NATHAN BASS/ I give a hefer to LID ANDERSON daughter to LISHA ANDERSON

I give 2 kows & calves to LOVEY BASS/ I give WILLIAM PETTIFORD son of LARRENCE 6 puter plates/ I give GEORGE PETIFORD a bed/ my great mare to be sold to pay my debts I give my young mare to MARGET BASS. I give my three children JERREY ANDERSON KATE HARRIS & BETTEY SMITH one shilling each apies the remainder part of my Estate toward defraying my funeral expenses & paying my debts except one shilling which I gave my wife MARY ANDERSON.

Lovey never married but she had 4 children. 3 were bound to George Anderson and one "base born mulatto child of Lovey Bass" was charged to Bartlet Taylor 1/13/1767. She may have been George's mistress as he gave her 2 cows and calves in his 1771 will, and her son Nathan his plantation. He gave his wife and children one shilling apiece.

Edward BASS was born ABT 1698 in Norfolk Co, VA, and died 1775 in Dobbs Co, NC. He was the son of 2. John BASS and 3. Love HARRIS.

* i. Wright BASS was born ABT 1745 in Dobbs Co, NC, and died BEF 1800 in South Carolina. He married unknown.

• ii. Jeremiah BASS was born ABT 1747 in Dobbs Co, NC, and died BEF 5 JUL 1808 in Wilkinson Co, MS Territory.
• iii. Arthur BASS was born ABT 1748 in Dobbs Co, NC, and died 30 NOV 1823 in Wayne Co, NC. He married Mourning in North Carolina.
• iv. Ephraim BASS was born ABT 1755 in Dobbs Co, NC, and died 23 JUL 1828 in Wayne Co, NC. He married Nancy. He married Mary in Wayne Co, NC
