About Lyndol Ellis Taylor
Lyndol Ellis Taylor gained his middle name in honor of his great-grandmother's surname because our mother Alma Marie (Pence) Taylor loved her husband Lindsey Wilson Taylor's paternal grandmother Rhoda Jane (Ellis) Taylor so very much. He was the second child of Lindsey Wilson Taylor and Alma Marie Taylor. His older sister Betty Lou was born November 14, 1930, in Berryville, Arkansas, while our parents lived with our paternal grandparents Christopher Columbus (originally Columbus Burton) Taylor and paternal great-grandparents Evans Randolph Taylor and Rhoda Jane Taylor. Betty Lou preceded both her father and Lyndol in death on June 6, 1998. His younger twin brothers Roy Gene and Ray Dean Taylor were born June 27, 1943; they both survive Lyndol. Lyndol served his country honorably, first in the Oklahoma Army National Guard and then the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the destroyer escort USS McKean DDR784 which took him into harm's way and heavy combat off the coast of Korea. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1955.
