About Mabel P ( Nickerson) Guthrie
TEWKSBURY -- Mabel P. (Nickerson) Guthrie, 92, the matriarch of a well-known Lowell area family, died Wednesday afternoon, April 4, at the Blaire House in Tewksbury, after a brief period of declining health. She was the wife of Roland H. Guthrie, who died in 1980. She was born in Newport, Maine, April 30, 1914, daughter of the late Edgar A. and Alice (Hoolder) Nickerson. She was raised in Maine, and traveled extensively as a military family. The Guthrie family settled in Tewksbury in 1958. She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Roberta Tharpe of Lowell, Ruth and Steve McCartney of Westford, Diane and Robert Sadowski of Tewksbury, and Christine and Kevin Bailey of Pelham, N.H.; a son and daughter-in-law, Roland "Doc" and Mary Kay Guthrie of Lowell; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren.
