About Margaret Leigh, of Walton on the Hill
Margaret Leigh, daughter of Giles Leigh and Catherine Bold, was born about 1516 at Walton on the Hill, Surrey, England. She died 22 June 1558 at Hatfield, Peverell, Essex, England. She married John Allen (1500 - 1545) of Thaxted in 1538; they had eight known children.

- Margaret was born about 1516, the elder daughter of Giles Leigh, esq., of Walton Leigh. She married John Alleyne of Thaxted, and they had three sons:
- John, his heir, who married three times and had sons Edmund and Thomas, and daughters, Elizabeth and Mary;
- Christopher; and
- Giles, of Hatfield Peverell, who married Christian West.
- John died on June 22, 1558, and son John succeeded him. No daughters are mentioned in Burke's.
- The "Visitation of Essex" for 1612 shows that John Allen and Margaret had children:
John, m. Elizabeth Alabaster;
2nd son Giles, m. Christian West;
3rd son Christopher; Catherine, m. Thomas Baker of Chesterford;
Elizabeth, m. Thomas Barneby of Colchester;
possibly Agnes, m. William Higham.
- The "Visitation of Essex" for 1634 shows that John Alleyn and Margaret Leigh had a son, "John Alleyn of Hattfeld Peverell." No other children are shown.
