25 November 1584: Summons at the instance of James Earl of Glencairn, grandson and heir by progress of umquhile Alexander Earl of Glencairn against John Cunningham of Cunninghamhead (son and heir of William Cunningham of Cunninghamhead) who was son and heir of umquhile Robert Cunningham of Cunninghamhead procreate (lawfully) betwixt him and umquhile Margaret Mure his wife charging the said John Cunningham to compear before the Lords of Council at Edinburgh the 12 January then next to answer at the instance of the Earl for postponing to renounce and overgive the 5 merk land of Newton lying in the barony of Kilmaurs formerly wadset by umquhile William Lord Kilmaurs with consent of Cuthbert Earl of Glencairn, his father, to the said umquhile Robert Cunningham and Margaret Mure his wife for the sum of 800 merks.
