MRS. MARY E. BLAKEMORE

Havana Funeral services were held at the Union church in Havana yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock for Mrs. Mary E. Blakemore, who died at her home five miles northwest of Havana Saturday morning at 9 o’clock. Services were in charge of the Rev. Tysen. Burial was in Havana cemetery. Mrs. Blakemore had lived in the Havana community for about sixty years and, with her husband, was a substantial builder in the progress of the community.

Mary Ellen Swaney was born in Iowa, Dec. 20, 1854, and departed this life Dec. 17, 1932 at the age of 77 years, 11 months and 27 days. She came to Kansas with her parents when a young girl. She was married to Thomas Blakemore, Dec. 24, 1878. To this union were born ten children. Three sons, preceded her in death; three sons and four daughters survive her: 0. A. Blakemore, Havana, Lawrence and Ora of the home address, Mrs. Nora Bymer of Havana, Mrs. John Melton of Dearing, Mrs. Fred Stroud of Coffeyville and Mrs. David Pennell of Havana; twenty-three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was united with the Baptist church when she was thirteen years old.
