Services for Rabbi Moses A. Shulvass, 78, a professor for 37 years at Spertus College of Judaica in Chicago, will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday in the chapel at 1300 W. Devon Ave. Rabbi Shulvass, of the North Side, died Thursday in St. Francis Hospital, Evanston. He had taught at Spertus College since 1951 and from 1952 to 1971 was chairman of the department of graduate studies. A native of Poland, he was ordained a rabbi in 1930 in Warsaw and received his doctorate from the University of Berlin in 1934. From 1935 to 1947 he lived in the area that became Israel. He had been a fellow of the American Academy of Jewish Research, member of the Chicago Board of Rabbis and the author of 12 books on Jewish history. He had published three volumes on the history of the Jewish people; the fourth volume is to be published in 1989. Survivors include two daughters, Phyllis and Ruth, and a brother.
