About Nettie Dora Hurst

Immigrated 1897, to New York, Graduated Columbia Univ. as a Pharmacist. Moved to Houston Texas?, went to World's Fair 1899, met her husband. Rest of family remained in Houston, became very prominent and wealthy. Nettie married Diamond after her 1st husband died. Seven years later she was murdered by him. A great scandal written up in all the papers at the time. Copies available through Judy Hurst. Nettie was an energetic woman. She owned and ran 5 pharmacies in the area, owned much real estate which all disappeared after her death, as the trustees of the East Chicago Bank sold off her assets (making their own fortunes).
