About Ransom Thompson Reeves
Private, 12th Regiment Alabama Infantry during Civil War.
Moved to Indian Territory and one of the original settlers around Ardmore, Oklahoma.
From his Obituary.
"In 1899 "Uncle Tom", as he was affectionately called, moved to Indian Territory, settling near Springer where he lived until he moved to Ardmore in 1908. He bought a five acre tract in northeast Ardmore on which he grew the choicest fruits, berries, vegetables and melons.
Uncle Tom was not learned in the higher education, but he possessed virtues that made him a man among men, his friends assert. Honesty, truth, spirituality, cheerfulness, charity, a love for his fellow man,a hand and heart always open to those in need, a hospitality unstinted, they declare.
Uncle Tom was a master Mason, a confederate soldier, and a member of the Baptist Church."
He died of Cancer of the liver on 25 August, 1930 and is buried in Springer Cemetary.
