The Rev. Abraham Nott graduated Yale in 1720 as a Doctor of Divinity, and was the 1st pastor of the Second Congregational Church of Saybrook, Connecticut (Essex Society). He was ordained at Saybrook in 1725, and ministered at the Second Congregational Church for 33 years preceding his death. (1)

He was remarkable for physical strength, and it is said that he could lift a barrel of cider above his head and hold it at arms-length. As preacher he was irresistable, and equally so as a wrestler. (link1)

• Here lies interred ye body of ye Rev Abraham Nott, who departed this life Jan ye 24th, AD 1756. In his 61st Year & 34th of his Ministry "Being dead he yet speaketh"
