About Ruth Emily Fischer
Mrs. Ruth Emily Fischer, 64, of 528 Nicollet Ave. North Mankato, died at Immanuel hospital, Mankato, Saturday evening. She had been ill for the past year. Death was due to cancer. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Our Savior's Lutheran church in Mankato, with the Rev. A. G. Fehner officiating. Interment was in the Minnesota Lake cemetery. Nephews of Mrs. Fischer serving as pallbearers were Ted, Vinton, James and John Matz, Dean Fleming and Donald Rocek. Ruth Emily Erwin was born in Connecticut, March 7, 1893, the daughter of the late Vinton and Louisa Erwin, and was a resident of the Waseca-Janesville community for 40 years. Her marriage to Ernest Fischer took place in Waseca June 21, 1922. Mr. Fischer died Jan. 23, 1929 at Janesville. Mrs. Fischer is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Victor Bengston, of North Mankato, with whom she had lived the past year; two sons, Major W. H. Fischer of the Granite City engineering depot at Granite City, Ill., and Captain Warren E. Fischer of the Show Air Force base, South Carolina; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Wm. Matz, Waseca; and two brothers, Carl Erwin of Portland, Oregon and Albert Erwin of Enumclaw, Wash. Waseca relatives attending the funeral services Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Matz, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Matz and son Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Vinton Matz and children, Mr. and Mrs. James Matz and Diane, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Fleming, and John and Danny Matz. Mrs. Elmer Malmquist and daughter, Suzanne of International Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rocek of Hayfield, also attended.
