- Book Die Myburghs van Suid-Afrika says he was Assitant Magistrate at Wynberg (Cape Town), then went to Rhodesia in 1898 and was Magistrate at Umtali (now Mutare) in 1906, and then went to Bulawayo. Also gives name of wife Blanche Gray, daughter of Robert Gray..

- Message board query here http://boards.ancestry.com/localities.africa.southafrica.general/18... says (referring to son Ryk) "...Ryk´s father was Ryk Hendrick Myburgh, Resident Magistrate and Civil Commisioner Bulawayo, travelled to Rhodesia with Cecil Rhodes, President of the Jockey Club Cape Town. Had two more sons who were killed in WW1(?). Married Blanche Gray. He died in 1955 age 96. "

"Our trip to Melsetter, a Dutch settlement a hundred miles from Umtali, was a very enjoyable one. We were accompanied by Mr. Ryk Myburgh, the genial and popular magistrate of Umtali. Ryk is descended from one of the oldest and best of the Cape Dutch families. He was formerly in the Cape Civil Service, and when he applied for a transfer to Rhodesia, Sir William Milton, who knew his worth, did not hesitate to give immediate effect to his wishes."
- However - despite his achievements, sadly, he and his wife lost all of their children young - one in WW1 and the other two in chldhood.
