When the war was over his enlistment was up. He could only remain if he was married. Bachelors were not welcome. He married Genevieve Pelletier Dit Antaya on may 14, 1690 in Montreal Quebec. On the marriage record # 1 and 2 were the bride and groom sign and 4 the grooms parents 56 the brides parents 7 probably a friend of the groom and 8 probably a brother of the bride as she had a brother named Joseph 9 the priest who married them. The groom signed his name to the marriage register and the bride could not. You could get a copy of his signature look up the Montreal parish register of Notre Dame De Montreal. The Library in SLC has the registers.
In the Notre Dame De Montreal Parish register his las name is spelled Desgagniert. Together Jacques and Genevieve had 9 children.
