STEPHANA MALCOLM
Stephana Malcolm is the daughter of George Malcolm of Burnfoot and his wife Margaret Pasley. [The Journal of the Paisley Family Society, Volume 10. See pp. 13-19 for The Mother of Heroes. Bonnie Peggy Paisley (1742-1811) and her Seventeen Children, by John Malcolm] She was born on 31 January 1774 and her baptism was registered on 4 February 1774, at Westerkirk in Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Stephana Malcolm was a devout Presbyterian, who kept a diary throughout her long life (Now in the National Library of Scotland) An early daguerreotype shows her as a fearsomely stern looking woman. Stephana Malcolm's recipe book also survives, as part of the Malcolm of Burnfoot collection in the National Library of Scotland. It contains recipes for a number of Indian dishes including Kedgeree
