Thomas Lane of Rickmansworth

Thomas Lane was probably born about 1520 in Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire, England, as he had a daughter in 1542 according to his father's will of 1542. His father was Robert Lane.[1]

He was identified in his father's will, dated 4 July 1542 and proved 11 June 1543.[1][2]

This will identifies Robert's daughters Annes Page and Margaret Thorpe, and his son and executor Thomas, as well as some of their family. He does not mention his wife, Thomas' mother. The will also identifies Thomas's daughter Elyne.[1]

Thomas was therefore living as of 1542.

Thomas Lane of Rickmansworth, yeoman, made a will dated 9 Dec 1586 and proved 14 June 1587. In this will, he identifies son George Lane, son John, son Richard, daughter Joan Wynchfield, Elizabeth Culverhouse, Mary Page, James Lane grandson via George, daughter Dorothy (unmarried), sister Thorpe, and wife Alice.[1]

1. Elyne, living in 1542, likely died by 1586.
2. George, living in 1586, had son James.
3. John, living in 1586.
4. Richard, living in 1586.
5. Joan, married Wynchfield, living in 1586.
6. Elizabeth, married Culverhouse, living in 1586.
7. Dorothy, living and unmarried in 1586

. Thomas' 1586 will gives goods to Mary Page but does not identify her as daughter. It indicates that he had six children in 1586. In Thomas' father Robert's will of 1542, he gives a bullock to Elyne, daughter of Thomas. It is assumed that she was a first born child, and was not living as of 1586 and probably had no children as they are not mentioned in Thomas's will.
