About Thomas Jefferson Ruehlen
The McPherson Daily Republican Sat. 8/7/1943 T.J.Ruehlen, 64, 401 N. Olivette st., died suddenly last night at 10:45 o'clock of a heart attack after being in failing health for the last several months. Mr. Ruehlen was born on Nov. 11, 1878, at Columbus, Oh., and his parents were Mr. & Mrs. Jacob Ruehlen. In 1902 he was married to Miss Addie May Taylor in Woodson county, Ks. Mr. Ruehlen was a farmer by occupation and for years lived northwest of Windom. The Ruehlens moved to McPherson from Windom in March, 1926. He was a member of the Methodist church. The survivors include the widow, 3 sons, Orville Ruehlen and Cecil T. Ruehlen, both of McPherson, and William "Bill" Ruehlen in the South Pacific with the United States Marines; 4 daughters, Mrs. Hazel Erma Stephenson, Lyons; Mrs. Alice Louise Hodgson, Manchester, Tenn., Mrs. Nellie Rose Krehbiel, Olney, Ill., and Miss Maxine Mae Ruehlen, of the home. Other survivors include 3 brothers, F.W. Ruehlen, Larned, Theodore Ruehlen, Phoenix, Az., and Ernest Ruehlen, Eucine, N.M., and 2 sisters, Mrs. Robert Shannon and Mrs. Dora McCrery, both of Hiawatha, Ks. 10 grandchildren survive.
