Schuyler Lawrence lists William of Withington Co. Gloucester as a brother of John and Robert and a son of Robert and Margaret Laurence. However, Franklyn indicates that the editors of The Visitation of the County of Glouster 1682/83 (Exeter: 1884) have corrected this to make William the son of John and the grandson of Robert and Margaret. Franklyn indicates that according to Burke's Commoners, 1st Edition, Vol. III, 1836, this William Laurence held landed property in 1509 in the amount of 2,000 per annum, including Sevenhampton in the county of Gloucester, the manor of Sea House in Somerset, Blackley Park and Norton, Co. Worcester, Staple Farm and New House, and many other estates.2

Schuyler Lawrence indicates that the Visitation heralds claim that John and William left heirs but argues that this is impossible for they would have inherited the whole of the Lawrence estates and since these properties passed into the hands of female heirs, the children of Robert and Margeret, or of his brother Nicolas, could not have left direct heirs.3.

I have included the line as indicated by Franklyn here, leaving the debate open to others to decide.

William made a will on 4 March 1558/59. William's will bequeths five hundred pounds and five hundred sheep among his five sons or their children. Having survive his sons Thomas and Edmund, he names Richard Lawence of Foxcote the overseer of his will and directs the he should be buried at Withington near his late wife Alice.4

His will was proved on 10 June 1559 in the Prerogarative Court of Canterbury, England.
