- Dorchester Co., MD Land Record Lib. 26 old 172 Dated 5 November 1772 William Ross, (of James) of Dorchester Co., Planter, and Margaret, his wife, and Elizabeth Hackett of the same Co., Spinster to- John Douglas, of Chester Co., PA and William Douglas, of Dorchester Co., MD, Iron Masters, tract called "John's Hill" cont. 50 acres and "Hackett's Fortune" cont. 60 acres, formerly the property of Thomas Hackett, Jun'r, late of Dorchester Co., dec'd.
- "The Ross side of my family, owned Araminta Ross, later known as HARRIET TUBMAN, the Moses of Her People. She was born at my 4th great-uncle's plantation in Bucktown, Maryland near the city of Cambridge, Maryland, on the Eastern side of the Chesapeake Bay, on the Delmarva Peninsula, about 20 miles West of Seaford, Delaware."
