William Rush, of Virginia

Parents unknown, name of wife unknown, date of death unknown. Father of William Rush ll (1637-1691)

Emigrated to Virginia in 1635 at age 20 after passage on the Matthew, London to St. Christopher's, Richard Goodbark, ship master.

Notes

The Rushes were a Dutch family that emigrated from the Netherlands to England during the 16th Century. The original spelling of the name may have been Rus, Rusje, Rusche, or Rusch (thanks to Wim Demeere for his help), but is as yet unknown.

WILLIAM RUSH.  Two men named William Rush are known to have come to America in the first half of the 17th-century.  The first William Rush arrived in 1635 aboard the Matthew when he was 20 years old.
