About William Alexander Work
From “Work Family History”, vol. I (1969) & vol. II (1994), compiled by Von Gail Hamilton.
William was a teacher for a time and a member of the Mahoning United Presbyterian Church. He was an industrious and progressive farmer, a devout Christian, and a most beloved husband and father. He was intensely interested in improved strains of livestock, grain, fruit and ornamental trees.
The heritage he passed on is shown by 1 of his granddaughters serving as a missionary in India, and all of his grandsons who grew to maturity serving as church officials, 4 as ruling Elders, and the 5th, who refused the eldership, served faithfully as a trustee for many years.
