Today, we lost our Saint, Angel, Our Mama, Granny, and Sister in Christ, Willie Lou Garner Baccus Burns "Billie" or "Bill". She was surrounded by her loved ones as she passed away on March 15, 2011. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2011, at Community Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 North 2nd Street, Abilene, with Pastor Randy Linn and Pastor James King officiating. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery, directed by Community Memorial Funeral Home. Born February 5, 1925 in Burnett, Texas, Billie was the daughter of the late Joe Elisha and Lola Loretta Garner. Billie married James Harwood Baccus in Burnett on September 7, 1940. James preceded her in death on May 19, 1955. Billie was a member of Grace Tabernacle on Marshall in Abilene, Texas. In her earlier years, she worked in Café and later owned. She was a volunteer with the Abilene State School Foster Grandparents Program for many years and a Granny to all. All of Granny's grandchildren were very special. She had seventeen grandchildren. Whether you were born in the family or brought in, she made you feel special. In Granny's own little way, you felt like the only one. She had 39 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Billie was preceded in death by her brother and sisters; daughters, Janice McBride and Wanda Faye Baccus; and grandsons, Randy Shelton and Zane Baccus, "who will be dancing by her side". Billie is survived by daughter, Helen and son-in-law, Whimpy McNeely, of Turnersville, Texas; three sons, Jim and daughter-in-law, Janie Baccus, of Potosi, Texas, Billy and daughter-in-law, Janet Baccus, of Abilene, Texas, and Darrell and daughter-in-law, Sheri Baccus, of Clyde, Texas.
