About Zachariah Florance
Zachariah Levy Florance; changed surname from Levy to Florance on receiving an inheritance from a Dr. Florance in England, who was also a dentist; d. 15 Nov 1832/7, New Orleans; apparently originally from Holland, he spent time in England before emigrating to the US by 1802; dentist in Charleston, 1802; children all born in Charleston; also lived in Kentucky & Tennesse; to New Orleans 1827/8 or 1830; perhaps to be identified with the Zachariah Levy who was living in London in 1786; his sons all became wealthy businessmen in New Orleans though some later moved to Philadelphia.
