About Russel M Seeds
In the late 1800s, Russel Seeds served as Indiana Republican state committee secretary. In 1894 a bitter party reorganization fight took place between "Uncle Jack" John K Gowdy the chairman and Russel. In 1896 both were up for re-election, however with the split on matters of policy, Gowdy pushed the party away from supporting Russel and in the end Russel lost by one vote. This marked the end of Russel's active political career.
In 1899 he wrote "History of the Republican Party of Indiana : biographical sketches of the party leaders".
Russel became an accomplished newspaperman and even ran his own publishing company. Russel's articles on politics, and his column "Old Wine and New Bottles" was published in the Fort Wayne Gazette, Fort Wayne News, Indianapolis Daily Star, The Indianapolis Star, and other papers.
