Was his father Thomas or was he Cornelius or was he Edward? I found all three on rootsweb. Anyone have anything definitive?

Probably none of the above.

Edward's father on this profile is incorrectly stated to be Thomas "the immigrant". However there seems to be no proof or even strong evidence of this, and the birth date given here is the exact same day as the christening of Edward Watts son of Cornelius in Wells, England. An Edward Watts born or christened on this date, (with either father Cornelius or Thomas the immigrant), would not have been the same Edward Watts who married Anne Martin at age 68, was a member of the mounted militia at age 81, was building a mill at age 90, etc.

This Edward Watts is also alternatively stated to be the son of Thomas Watts of Stafford County, Virginia and Mary Norgrave. However that Thomas Watts of Stafford (not the same man as Thomas Watts the immigrant) was born ca 1657 according to a Stafford deposition, so he would not have had a son Edward Watts marrying Anne Martin only 31 years later (it is much more likely that this Edward and that Thomas were brothers).

Finally, Edward being the son of another Edward seems to be a way to justify these age issues..again though without any proof or primary source documentation.

At this point the parentage of this Edward Watts (who did not die 1690/1691) is unknown.
