Elyahu Goldenberg

I'm trying to figure out how I am related to Elyahu Goldenberg. My family visited him and his wife and two children in Israel shortly before he died in 1976. He was born in the Ukraine then moved to Israel in 1937. Married Lili Folman. Had two children, David and Michael. (David was a big star in Israel - Dudu Topaz). My dad always said they were cousins. My father's name was Herbert Goldenberg. His mom was Eva Cooper and his father was Phillip Goldenberg both from Russia, came to New York at the turn of the century. Anyone?
