He attended high school in Belle and Owensville where he graduated in 1935. He attended the University of Missouri for 3 years prior to entering the Army in March of 1941. In the Army he served as a medic in the South Pacific including the islands of Ryukyus, Luzon, Saipan, Okinawa and Leyte. Among the many medals Pete was awarded was a Bronze Star.
