Her remains were later moved to a burial site that is now below the foundations of the Groote Kerk in Bureau Street, Cape Town.

Krotoa, better known to the Dutch as Eva, because upon baptising her they had to find a name more palatable with which to summon her, one their tongues did not have to twist around – was buried at the Castle. She died at 32 in 1674. It would not be a leap to imagine that her spirit too wanders the expansive grounds. Later, her remains were exhumed and reburied at Die Groote Kerk.

This photo was taken at the doors to the church where Krotoa was buried in the Castle. If you do go to the Castle just ask the staff to direct you to the church. Entry is prohibited, but they can show you where it is.
Krotoa is my 10th great grandmother.
