Just started.

The line-up from the project's front page:

Michelle Keegan
Olivia Colman
Boy George
Shirley Ballas
Lee Mack (Lee Gordon McKillop)
Marvin Humes
Robert Rinder
Jonnie Peacock

Anyone interested in digging into any one of them? Anyone need a hand with anything?

6/6/2018 at 3:42 PM

I'll do Olivia, work in progess now.

Good start.

I'll see if I can get a screenshot of Michele Keegan's Gibraltan family tree, as my wife had a couple of great aunts born there, so I'm a member of the relevant projects.

Great Stuff! I did do a tree for Michelle's UK family ahead of the program - probably can do more! I will see what I can do with Shirley Ballas later - babysitting today!

6/7/2018 at 6:20 AM

I have not found Olivia Colman's parents so I am going to add placeholders because I have her mothers maiden name.

6/7/2018 at 8:44 AM

Yes, she seems to keep a lid on private information.

However:

Her mother was a district nurse:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/1MJYLWPPVdRGjpngHcZYHKZ/11...

Her father was a chartered accountant:
https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/2766762/olivia-colman-broadch...

One thing I noticed is that her mother is listed as being born in 1880 and dying in the 1960s, before Olivia Colman was born:
Gwladys, Elizabeth Leakey

6/7/2018 at 9:02 AM

It looks like her parents might be Keith D Colman and her mother is Mary A. Leakey:

https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV6C-G68T

There are no other Colman/Leakey weddings in England for 10 years before her birth.

Not much of use leaking out before the episode:

-
According to research carried out on WDYTYA the mum-of-three’s great-great-great grandmother Harriot was an “orphan” in 1811 whose father had been an Englishman working for the East India Company who married a local girl and had a daughter. But her father died while he was still young and little Harriot was sent to her English grandparents for a “better life”, making the perilous sea journey from Calcutta to England on her own. Her story moves Olivia to tears.

Some info on the Lee Mack one:

-
Lee Mack’s investigation brings to light a comedy connection to his great-grandfather who performed on the frontline during WW1.
-

Also, apparently, Boy George traces his Irish roots.

6/7/2018 at 1:19 PM

I think I've managed to extract the Gibraltan/Italian side from the trees of Michelle Keegan, heading off from:

Miguel Orfila

The furthest back being:

Giovanbattista Parodi

I'll double check it all later and bung in the screenshots in case anyone wants to look over it for errors, as they zoomed around the tree it got tricky picking the bits out.

I have made a start on Jonnie Peacock - not much there yet! His grandfather was Johnny Roberts - footballer Private

6/9/2018 at 7:49 AM

Lee Mack
Hard to find much, brother died of an"accidental" overdose 2014. Wife is a very private person, I found a picture but will not make her a MP and public.
I found the name of his grandfather but not connected yet. I will make place holders for his parents.

6/9/2018 at 11:59 AM

This looks to be his parent's wedding - John M Mckillop and Delia C Kingsley:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV6H-1BLQ

It might be his father was from elsewhere in England:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV73-H49G

Both of his parents are dead:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/the-filter/lee-mack-wouldnt-surpris...

This might be his Dad's death registration:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QV4H-5CZG

His mother seems to have remarriednt a Martin Gra (Sefton North is pretty much Southport):
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVX6-6X6Q

And then her death registration (with birth date):
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVZN-RF9F

I can't pick up a birth registration for her though.

6/9/2018 at 12:30 PM

Lee Mack has an autobiography - his great-grandfather Billy Mac (no k) will be the focus of the episode and his son, Lee Mack's grandfather) was Jack McKillop and his son (Mack's father) was John. His mother is Christine, which fits with the above and they were married at 21:

https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=Ym3VWmSmoIUC&&pg=PT10#v...

Also his mother's sister was Frances who married a Jim and they had a daughter Alison. Lee Mack lived with them for a while.

6/15/2018 at 9:16 AM

June, Jonnie Peacock's grandfather is no longer with us:

"He was John Roberts. He was known as 'Johnny Boy.' He actually quit football to become a painter. I'm not too sure about all of the details because he died a couple of months before I was born."

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/olympics/paralympics/athletics-...

He carries his war medal as a good luck charm:

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/paralympic-sport/2016/09/10/paralympic-...

Looking at the photo here, it seems to be a cap badge for the North Lancashire regiment:

https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/sep/11/jonnie-peacock-lucky-...

Might be enough information to triangulate on him and winkle out some more details.

Thanks Bill regarding Jonnie Peacock - I had explored that section of the tree - not got any further.

There is a problem with Olivia Colman 's tree. There seems to be a missing generation - according to her birth registration -

England & Wales, Civil Registration Birth Index, 1916-2007
Name: Sarah Caroline Colman
Registration Date: 1974
Registration district: Acle
Inferred County: Norfolk
Re-registration Year: 1974
Mother's Maiden Name: Leakey
Volume Number: 4b
Page Number: 1935

her mother's maiden name was Leakey.

This marriage is probably her parents

Marriages Jun 1967
COLMAN KEITH D LEAKEY KINGS L 4B 1313
LEAKEY MARY A COLMAN KINGS L 4B 1313

The only birth for Mary A Leakey I can find that fits is

Births Dec 1941
Leakey Mary A Wiggins New Forest 2b 1582

This would link up with Alexander Graham Leakey and Patricia Wiggins - I have moved her in accordance with these findings - I hope that you agree Eldon Lester Clark please offer an alternative arrangement!

Getting carried away! Need to find something that confirms this!

6/21/2018 at 11:00 AM

Thanks for looking into that June, I flagged it up earlier and concluded that those must be her parents:

https://www.geni.com/discussions/182275?msg=1222121

You pushed it further and that looks solid to me.

6/21/2018 at 11:11 AM

Pity about the football, as we'd have a couple more episodes under our belt by now!

6/27/2018 at 2:38 AM

The Genealogist has posted the WDYTYA? information:

https://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/featuredarticles/2018/who-do-you-t...

They have a series 15 section now, worth checking when the series restarts:

https://www.thegenealogist.co.uk/featuredarticles/2018/who-do-you-t...

6/29/2018 at 10:27 AM

Eldon Lester Clark, I think we can afford to to mark Lee Mack's parent's as deceased (see above source) as well as his great-grandfather who had died before Mack was born.

7/10/2018 at 9:02 AM

Here is The Genealogist's article on Olivia Colman if it helps:

One of the best in the series I thought. I will watch it again when I can - baby-sitting duties allowing! I see you are working on her tree Bill - let me know if you need a hand!

7/11/2018 at 9:43 AM

Yes, they covered a lot of territory in a clear manner. They could have pushed it further back too as John Bristow, MP had important and influential relatives.

I pushed the line back to him based on the details in the episode as I guessed he'd be on here already (as a few people have worked hard to add in British MPs). What I wasn't expecting was that he'd have 4 sons and 11 daughters, a lot of whom seemed to have been married off to the children of other influential men. I suspect I'll be working on hooking that all together for a bit - as a lot are on here already just not linked together, so I suspect more merging is going to be needed.

So if anyone wants to work on the more recent parts of the family tree they can go for it. Lt. Col. Charles Young Bazett for example, is in the censuses so it should be easy enough to fill out that part of the tree and, potentially, push it back there.

7/11/2018 at 9:46 AM

Looking it over, Richard Campbell Bazett has a lot of Smart Matches so it might be possible to copy in the rest of his tree.

7/16/2018 at 1:13 PM

In the start of Lee Mack's WDYTYA? Lee Mack says his parents and all grandparents are no longer with us - can we switch them, and his great-grandfather to deceased?

7/16/2018 at 10:46 PM

I have switch them to public. Please check if enough profiles are public now.

I did a fair bit on Lee Mac's tree - I also enjoyed Boy George's episode - like him even more for it!

Multiple profiles, that can now be filled out, from boy georges family, not touched since 2014, need to be updated, from this

Is there any one that wants to pick this up. If needed I can make profiles public.

I have worked on Boy George's tree - making some profiles public etc. but there is a fine line - I will look over it again!
