Hello,
I am starting this discussion because John Pickering of Portsmouth, New Hampshire was not the son of Sir John Pickering, MP and Susannah Pickering. Sir John Pickering did have a son named John, but genealogies of the Pickering family of Titchmarsh write that he was a soldier and died unmarried in 1645. See: http://www.pickeringsofyorkshire.com/families/1200-1299/pickerings-... and https://books.google.com/books?id=to9cAAAAcAAJ&pg=RA1-PA348&..., page 348 and https://www.stirnet.com/genie/data/british/pp/pickering01.php.
Furthermore, according to the information on his Wikitree page, Robert Charles Anderson's The Great Migration Begins writes that the names of John Pickering of Portsmouth's parents and wife in unknown. https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Pickering-410
Therefore, I have disconnected John Pickering from the parents incorrectly attributed to him and changed his wife's name to unknown. I also got rid of the (parliament) and Col. in his name as I am not seeing any references to these titles in other family trees.
Sincerely,
Tamas Caldwell-Gilbert
