Interest to know if anyone has any understanding of the circumstances around the presentation of an urn to William Lane Merriman Lane Merriman by the officers and crew of the U.S.S. Monocacy on the 4th of July 1887 in Yokohama. The said urn has recently turned up in a thrift shop in Australia.
