Is there anything documenting his parents?

Asking because most Ancestry trees have no parents for him. One tree has his parents as:

Father: Edington Jefferson Carter (1811–1902)

Mother: Mary A Watkins (1816–1899)

And when I Googled, I only found a bit more info on his wife but nothing on his parentage.

The birth certificate for his daughter Maud Lee Carter and the site with his wife's photo have his middle name as Madison rather than Monroe, so I went ahead and changed that.

I think perhaps a James Monroe Carter somehow got mixed up with James Madison Carter. From James Madison and his Lominack wife down seems correct but nothing from James back seems to.

I took another look at the birth certificate of Maud Lee Carter and it states both her parents, named as James Madison Carter and Amanda Lominiick were born in Tennessee, whereas this profile has James born in Georgia. I think that info belongs to whoever James Monroe Carter is that seems to have gotten connected here.

I'm going to attach Maud's birth certificate under the Media File for reference.
