It's possible that one of unknown ancestors was Cherokee. It's not likely anyone on Geni will be able to prove this.
One of the known ancestors might be part Cherokee and there might be some evidence of this but finding it will not be easy. I'd suggest reaching out to other people interested in Cherokee heritage rather than limiting your enquiries to people who might be interested in Mattie.
