Does anyone know if Elias may have been married before 1818 to someone else? Or could that date be incorrect? His first 3-4 children:
Henry E. Smith 1813-1863
Jacob Smith 1814 – 1891
Peter Burtram Smith 1817 – 1870
John Stough Smith 1818 – 1899

After 1818 (when it's recorded they were married:
Sarah Smith 1819 – 1895
Amy Smith 1821 –
Enoch Smith 1823 – 1894
Jonas G. Smith 1823 – 1897
Kisiah Smith 1823 –
Rebecca Smith 1825 – 1897
Elizabeth Smith 1825 –

This might not be all of them, just what I'm seeing on findagrave. I'm pretty sure, children out of wedlock back then was a discrace.
