Warren Peterson - Sources?

I'm trying to track down any sources verifying Warren's dates and locations, and so far there isn't much luck. The only Warren and Laura Peterson I'm finding in Laurens County are these from the 1880 Census, which looks like a match for the children (minus Orie and Jack) as well. On the Census, Warren was born 1845 in South Carolina, and his parents were also born there. They appear again in 1900, with Warren's birth being in July 1850.

Do we have sources for his info? Also, do we know if he was born free, and if not, when he became free?
