I am currently working on my maternal Sherrill line, with the goal of finding where they orignated from once settling in the US.
I suspect that John Sherrill (3/10/1756-11/18/1823) is my gggrandfather.
The area of his death/burial are in the locations of the Sherrills that I factually know. These settled in the Overton/Fentress/Roane area of Tennessee.
My grandfather, William C. Sherrill is buried in the Wilder cemertary that I visited just this week. He worked in the mines and lived in Wilder. He is buried next to his daughter, Carrie Sherrill Hamby, my grandmother. She was only 23 when she died 3 days after giving birth to my mother, Jeanette.
Since the counties currently bump up to each other, I believe that John is my gggrandfather, but have not proven it yet.
I will continue to research until I can find my answers.
